HERMES

Hermes is an Olympian god in Greek religion and mythology, son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia. He is second youngest of the Olympian gods.

HERMES was the great Olympian God of animal husbandry, roads, travel, hospitality, heralds, diplomacy, trade, thievery, language, writing, persuasion, cunning wiles, athletic contests, gymnasiums, astronomy, and astrology. He was also the personal agent and herald of Zeus, the king of the gods. Hermes was depicted as a handsome and athletic, beardless youth, or as an older bearded man. His attributes included the herald's wand or kerykeion  winged boots, and sometimes a winged travellers cap and chlamys cloak.

He was the messenger of the gods and guide of dead souls to the Underworld. A prankster and inventive genius from birth, Hermes aided the heroes Odysseus and Perseus in their quest. Hermes was known for his HELPFULNESS to mankind, both in his capacity as immortal herald and on his own initiative. When Perseus set out to face the Gorgon Medusa, Hermes aided him in the quest. According to one version of the myth, he loaned the hero his own magic sandals, which conferred upon the wearer the ability to fly. Some say that Hermes loaned Perseus a helmet of invisibility as well. Also known as the helmet of darkness, this was the same headgear that Hermes himself had worn when he vanquished the giant Hippolytus. This was on the occasion when the gargantuan sons of Earth rose up in revolt against the gods of Olympus.

It was Hermes job to convey dead souls to the Underworld. And as patron of TRAVELERS, he was often shown in a wide-brimmed sun hat of straw.

I choose Hermes because he was known for his helpfulness. And I am a man who loves to help my friends in times of their problems, loneliness and giving some not so poetic yet inspiring advices, and I get always surprised because it helped them a lot. I comfort them and wholeheartedly listen to their problems in love, life and family. Because I treasure them a lot, even though were not that rich that can buy anything but I am proud to say that I am rich not in money and material things but because of my friends. And Hermes was known as the patron of travelers, I love to travel but I don’t always have money to travel. But still it doesn’t stop my desire to travel around the world. One of my dreams is to travel the world, exploring new and old places, seeing new things and to know different cultures. In fact, I think travel makes everybody a more awesome person. We end our travels way better off than when we started. I'm not saying this to be conceited or egotistical, I'm saying it because I believe that travel is something that makes you not only a better human being, but a way cooler one too. The kind of person people gravitate towards and want to be around.

 MODERN DAY HERMES :)
